When my wife and I first got together one of the first things I did was expose her to as many different culinary styles as possible. There's nothing wrong with American food per se and she was a great cook but there's a whole world of dining possibilities out there to be explored so why limit yourself.

Fun part of getting to know someone. Introducing foods/cuisines they may not be familiar with or even have an aversion to.

On the other hand, I look in her frig and see "nothing to eat." 15 minutes later she calls me to the kitchen for "something she threw together" and it's the most amazing sandwich I've ever eaten. She's magic.
