Americans in Bahrain are being ordered to be culturally sensitive and obey local laws while off post in a foreign country. Drinking, smoking, chewing, and eating in public during daylight is a civil offense there. Bahrain is strategically important and ally to the US. We are simply being polite guests in their country.
While on post, normal rules apply.
