20 yards. How far away was he when you shot him?
I'm hoping I know exactly where he is at. I just couldn't see him due to brush. Even if he isn't there the terrain is pretty distinct and there are only a few avenues that are down hill.Good luck bro...with this rain you may want to call the dogs in.
Me, too.good luck and hope the song dogs dont get him
If he went far enough for a tracking dog to be needed, then he isn't hurt as bad as I thought and he's gone. I just cant believe he isn't dead close to where I think he is. He had six inches of arrow sticking out of the side of his chest.Yeah I really hope you find him before the coyotes. Good luck!
GON publishes the numbers for tracking dogs every so often. If it's the buck of a lifetime it will be worth the cost.
I'm not going after him until morning. I hope it's cold enough that the meat doesn't spoil.Good luck, keep us updated! I would give him as long as you possibly can. Maybe 5-6 hours at very least.
The big thing is that he never spook hard. I'm hoping he got in the thick and decided to lay down for a while... and never get up again.Wise move letting him lay up, and yes, call a dog. Dang, good luck man! Hope you find him!
Thanks for the positive thoughts. I think I'll find him, too, but I have doubts anytime a deer gets out of sight after the shot. This one staying on his feet like he did was just amazing. You'll find him, looking forward to pics!
