If he doesn't make the 125 P&Y minimum, he's damn close.Heck Yeah, Much Good Luck... sounds like he's a hoss....In for pics... Keep the faith... You will find him...
The big thing is that he never spook hard. I'm hoping he got in the thick and decided to lay down for a while... and never get up again.
I have never seen or herd yotes in this area. If I had, I would take the chance of spooking him. The way he stayed up really has me doubting the quality of the shot (maybe he was angling more sharply towards me than I thought) and if I only got one lung it could take him a long time to go out. If I push him, and let him get an adrenaline rush, I'll probably never find him.I would be there now with lots of batteries and wait for the coyotes to start. If it took all night
Unless that arrow bent a lot, it's in at least one lung. I got a good look at what was sticking out. It was also only very slightly up hill. Maybe 5 degrees.Really hope you find him,, But my thought are, shooting up hill you hit the shoulder blade and the arrow follow the blade out the chest missing all the vitals. 8 inches to the right you would have your trophy. Good luck Bear.
Agreed. Good plan.I hope so too. I would check as far as I could in that one area, taking one way in and disturbing nothing, and if you don't find him soon, back out the the exact same way you walked in and call a dog. I've been in this situation and a dog with GPS collar can make your day a good one. It should only cost around $100. Money well spent.
I hope you find him!
Good luck! I hope you find it!20 yards.
