Doc prescribed metformin for a 6.9 AIC anyone else take metformin experiencing any issues with the drug?

Thanks man. I've always wanted an A team rifle. I'm just glad I ain't having to take shots. a pill twice a day I can manage.

I was put on metformin about a year ago - 2000mg/day. No side effects that I noticed.

After 3 months, cut it back to 1000mg/day - no side effects other than MAYBE you'll be peeing a bit more often. That being said, I'm on so many other pills, it could be one of the other ones.

metformin and gabepentin caused my kidney failure, so I cut the met and reduced the gabby to 1/8 what I was taking caused my kidney failure, try anything but the metformin

Been on metformin for 5 years. No issues at all. A1C has come down. Do what the doc says (my issue) diet and exercise. I’m sure yours, like mine is diet and exercise related. Had issues with gabapentin, as did my FIL. Stopped that. PM if I can help.

Many years ago Dr put me on metformin because I was supposedly pre diabetic. Changed Drs and this one took me off of it. Last year A1c got to 5.9. I then cut out all sugar and bread and reduced it to 5.6 In two months. I think according to the guidelines 6.4 and above is considered diabetic.
