What did you do to better your prep today?

LOL! Yup. Which reminds me...of all the things I HAVE done and all the things I WANT to do for prepping I am becoming most concerned about what I CAN'T do...solve the location and community problem. The nearest group I know of is 40-45 minutes drive away. Being down here by West point lake has a lot of plusses but it seems I am either pretty isolated or just can't find those that ARE here.

I'm fortunate enough to have two legs of the Oconee river at my rear(1/8 mile) and a couple of natural springs on the family property. Honestly, with family and a few like minded friends and neighbors we should be ok.... Well hopefully lol

Only two legs I gots is da ones I'm going to be making the 2 mile round trip hike to the lake for water with if it comes to it. ;)

Been canning quite a bit myself. Making homemade cayenne pepper sauce and homemade blackberry jelly today.

Is it really economical as compared to canned goods in the store? I understand as a skill for if canned goods are not accessible after SHTF, but for now isn't it still cheaper to buy cans than to buy food and can it? Or even cheaper overall than growing and canning your own?

I think it is worth it, if you know what you're doing. I even can oranges when they go on sale....as well as preserve blueberries, blackberries, pears, apples, scupendines, plums and cherries that we grow. Waste not, want not....
