Magnum research has the BFR revolver it comes in calibers such as 45-70 and a number of other rifle calibers, I think .500 too.

standard over the counter stuff is the 500 S&W. used to be the 500 Linebaugh (using a 348 winchester lever action rifle trimmed to lenght and blown out) but the 500 now is the new energy/power king for production multi shot pistols.

if you want to go with single shot, take your pick. i've got a contender in 35 remington that is pretty fun to shoot. 150gr or 180gr spire points behind a decent load of powder. I have a small scope mounted on mine and it helps a bit with recoil but not something you take to the range to shoot 50 rounds for fun. unless you are blowing up pumpkins at 50 yards, then it's good fun.

A lot of people don't realize that the 500 has similar muzzle energy to the 308 Win.
