I just picked up a DPMS AR yesterday for my wife(at a non-inflated price from a great member on here) and am wondering what I should do as far as a scope. I kind of want to move my Vortex Strikefire red dot from mine and put it on my wife's and get a nice long range scope for mine. The reason is the DPMS is nice and light so I figured it would be good with the red dot for clearing the house or close quarters. Mine is a RRA Operator that is a heavy pig so I figured a long range scope would be good on her. I don't want to spend a ton on one right now, maybe below 200 if possible. What are your thoughts on my options and am I correct with my thinking on putting the long range scope on the RRA?

For the money the Leupold Mark AR is hard to beat. I got the 3X9X40 with a nice mount for 319. A bit over your budget but Leupold stands behind their product unconditionally....EVERY time. I love being able to hit the steel at 400 and then dialing back to zero at 100 consistently. Just my opinion, YMMV.

Made in USA and here is a link to a review:

What do you consider long range? As for right or wrong, dress it the way that suits you. Who cares what anyone else thinks?

The best buy I've seen in a decent variable with what I think is ample magnification scope under $200.00 is at Midway.

They run an exclusive Nikon Prostaff 4X12 Mildot periodically for $179.00. I bought two of them a while back and they aren't bad at all.

Should have specified, I'm looking at 300-400 yards max as far as long range. Thanks for the input guys......
