Bolt 22LR Poll (What do I buy)

I paid 237.00 for my Mark ll 22 mag and it shoots clover leafs at 75 yards. That's the longest I've shot it. What I mean by upgrades is replacing the plastic trigger guard off and replacing it with a metal one. Bedding the action and small inexpensive stuff. I have never shot another 22 mag that even shoots close. It came with a wooden stock and a bull barrel and the trigger is a little over 3.5 lbs. Mark ll's are known for their exceptional accuracy. I can't see any reason in spending another five to six hundred on top of 237 to maybe ( and that's big maybe ) get a rifle that'll hang with it. And I've got a 22 magnum, I'm sure the 22 long rifle is even more accurate than that. There's absolutely nothing wrong with this little rifle at all. I refuse to spend big money on a rimfire rifle when one can get accuracy like I've got. I bought a circa 1970s redfield scope 2-7 variable power off eBay for 100 bucks and it a great little combo. It will do everything and more than I need to and will last forever. What's even better is it shoots every ammo I have ran through it just as accurate than the ammo I tried before. The second pick is a four shot Group after I've zeroed the scope the scope in.

Not trying to be a turd, but shoot a 10 shot string.

Great looking rifle, and a fine shooter I bet. But its not in the gun of the month club and has no bragging rights for an elitist.
I completely understand him wanting to go suppressed and wanting a quality rifle in the safe. I didn't see the high dollar list in the original post. I just saw the name of the thread and responded. I wanted a 22 magnum and they're not known for their inherent accuracy to begin with however, I was floored with the accuracy I got from this rifle. I had tried several other guns even a Ruger 22 mag with a mannlicher stock and it was a beautiful rifle but it just wasn't there in the accuracy dept. No arguments here just sharing my luck running info a inexpensive shooter.

Bragging rights from come consistency, and there's no way you're getting consistency in production from budget rifles, you just aren't. First shot to last string consistency and bet the farm repeatability in performance. Upper tier firearms cost more because they provide value to people that are more demanding of performance. If they didn't, they wouldn't exist. That doesn't mean there aren't some inexpensive options that can shoot very well, but on average, and under a wide variety of circumstances, higher end guns will perform better. If valuing that type of performance makes someone an "elitist", oh well.
To each his own, I can consistently empty a mag on my production 10-22 at 100 yards with match ammo into the bullseye. using a 3-9x40 vx3hd in a dnz mount. its not all about the equipment or how much was spent in buying it. What I cant consistently do is find the time to shoot what I have.

I am on your side, and believe cheap guns can be fine shooters as long as the shooter does his part.

That’s a sample size of one. Take 10 brand new Rugers and 10 new Kidds and do the same thing. What are the results?

I don’t know what you do for a living, but if somebody else did the very same job, but they did so with less consistency and less care and quality of workmanship than you give your work, do you think the results would be the same? I don’t.

I vote Bergara B14R. Had a few including the ruger precision and savage fsvr. Couldn’t get a group like I can with this bergara. Tried multiple ammo and lots on all of them.

My best friend bought a 750 dollar Ruger bolt action, wooden stock with stainless steel. It was 22 mag also. You could shoot that gun 10 times and it might have hit the bullseye twice. What a let down that was. I was expecting a lot better performance for the bread he laid out.

I just picked one of those savage mk ll’s like brand new with a box of wolf match ammo for $100.00 a few weeks ago.
Gonna get it threaded now and trigger is 3.5 lbs right now.
Well worth $50 bucks

Oh yeah it had a scope to.

I have a friend who buy all counts is an elitist his pride comes from owning the name of the gun, he has all of the options listed in this thread with the exception of the cz, all wear high end optics, and I can outshoot him with my 10-22 any day at 50 yds. I get your point.

Do you think you could outshoot him using his guns?
