Who do you recommend to thread a barrel?

I wounder if its reasonable to cut down a 16' barrel to 10.5' or 12' and make a pistol AR15 upper... Or will I run into problems doing that? It seems like I can never find a pistol upper when I have the money. But can allways find a 16' upper.

Very reasonable, just might have to open the gas port a little too.
