Blast from the past! That truck was built by Shannon Brookshire.... I loved that truck!
I was active on TTORA when I had my Taco, that's where the picture is from. Truck in picture is definitely not mine. My Taco was a DD/family truck, so there were limits as what I did with it.

I've been debating on doing a buggy or just truggy out my 4door Tacoma......

If you have the skills and patience, a buggy is totally the way to go.

BUT (and that is a HUGE but)

Everything you love about your tacoma...you will not have with a buggy.

-when its cold....you are freezing
-when its hot....you are sweating
-when its raining....you are soaking wet (dont even get me started on cold AND raining :frown: )
-when its dusty....you have dirt boogers for weeks
-when you drive through a ****water puddle....you have a new ****water puddle in your lap

point being...there are some tradeoffs that you have to make to have the most capable and badass rig you can. If you want to kill some obstacles and really push your wheeling, then a buggy is the way to go. If you want to be comfortable and cruise the woods with some friends, build that tacoma.

Also, building a buggy is a huge undertaking. Don't get tricked by the build threads and professionals that are pumping out buggies all day long. They can build them pretty quickly....normal people cannot. They take LOTS of time and LOTS of headaches to build something worth a ****. I have spent a full day before on fighting a single node trying to get it perfect. And i spent another full day trying to get the rear tailgate section on my new chassis to line up perfectly. Its the little things that will really drive you nuts building a buggy.

I like the trade off though. I love having a buggy and being able to take a shot at any obstacle that i come across...but that still doesnt stop me from wishing I had some doors and windshield on that rainy November day.

I've got to take about 12" out of it, in front of the wheel wells. The bed will end up bobbed and pinched, haven't decided how to do the floor of the bed yet.. Im keeping the tailgate on it, so the trick will be to rework the angles to retain the factory latches.
