Why are SCARs so freaking expensive?

Let’s all give a loving welcome to alevinson91 alevinson91 our newest Scar member. The rest of you ODT guys (Scar haters) can suck it. No homo, unless you are into that, in which case I support your decision, just not with mine.
Hahaha thanks for the wonderful introduction. Finally bought into the hype and found out it’s more than hype and money well spent!!

Dealer cost on a new SCAR17 is around $2500. At a 10% dealer profit that puts it at $2750. Plus sales tax. Availability is limited. Then you add a super scar trigger and a good bipod and that's another $450. Plus good optics and you can push $4500 for the setup very easy.

I may acquire peasant status saying this. 4-9k for a rifle setup is ridiculous. the 16S is expensive but do-able,but really I’ve shot the 17. And yes it’s good but not 4K good.
I’d rather buy 2-3 bare bones m1a’s for that price. Too much proprietary stuff. IMO you’re paying for the name.

Nothing. Mag inserted and it chamber, fires, locks cocks extracts and ejects... same as everything else.
It go’s “Bang”!

Yes, those are the fundamental operations.

Now for the answer to the question that was asked.

The 6920 dumps hot gas and carbon into its own action, bolt carrier and upper receiver in order to cycle. Go fire 300 rounds from a 6920 and 300 rounds through a Scar, the difference inside the gun is night and day.

The 6920 does NOT:
Fire 30 caliber rounds
Have a tunable gas system
Have a multi position gas block
Have a piston system
Have a free float quick change barrel
Have a monolithic top rail
Have 3, 6 and 9 o’clock 1913 rails
Come with folding stock
Shoot with the stock folded (if equipped with one)
Have a stock worth keeping
Have a stock with storage
Have a stock with adjustable riser
Have a muzzle brake
Have smooth recoil
Have ambidextrous controls
Come with VERY good iron sights

The list goes on....
