In my opinion for the money they are not the greatest value on the market for a 2011 I would look into others. They are not bad guns per say but when other companies prices are comparable and still mostly hand built I would take the quality over quantity build when spending that kind of money

With that being said, you can easily dump that much $ into a polymer gun and it wont shoot nearly as nice as a stock 2011. There's a reason why many LE agencies have approved them for duty use.
The new HD series is going to be drop-safe. Which is interesting because I would imagine being drop-safe should be a prerequisite to being considered "Duty-Grade" these days. Sadly that will affect the crispness of the trigger break. Can't have your cake and eat it, too.

I don’t believe they are drop safe. Garand thumb posted a video of one going off by being dropped. Any gun , that anybody owns needs to be drop safe.

I wouldn't go so far as to say every gun a person owns should be. Many guns from back in the day were not. Range toys and such I'm not worried about. But I would agree that any defensive or "duty" weapon ought to be.

🙄 defense /duty/ range. You can slip and fall at the range, you can drop your gun, you can find yourself in a situation where the only gun available is that stacato . Guns need to be made drop safe. There is no excuse.

They should. But they aren't. There are lots of excuses. Not saying they're all valid, but they're there.

Your pistol could explode in your hand due to a misload from the factory or from personal error, yet people shoot millions of rounds a year with no issue. Life comes with risks. You have ones you evidently won't take but others would. And probably some you would take that others wouldn't.

Broad sweeping statements are not universal. And not realistic. But this is not the thread to discuss that philosophy.

You that last paragraph “ I wouldn’t go so far as to say every gun a person should be” is just an excuse for staccato, there is some dude with a Taurus g2c ( 199$ academy special) out there and his gun is better than a non drop safe staccato.
