Why can't light escape from a black hole?

Hasn't the theory of the event horizon been shattered by the discovery of Hawking radiation?
Its still being argued. Hawking also said that matter can be stored in the spacetime fabric and never really "destroyed". Plus if a black hole truly emits no radiation, then the temperature of a black hole should be absolute zero

That's an excellent point, I had never considered that.

Unless it is the inverse of absolute zero. If the singularity at the center of a black hole is infinitely dense then there would be no space in it whatsoever. Without space, the particles in matter wouldn't be able to move around each other and thus would emit no heat.

Black holes do emit light, it's thought the magnetic void at the polar regions.

They lose a single photon at a time extremely slowly. A couple of google trillion years and they will all evaporate completely.

If you're cruising around in your space ship at twice the speed of light and you turn your headlights on because it gets dark, what happens?
