I've been researching and thinking about starting an AR build in 7.62x39 and I have a few questions. First, why aren't there more of them out there? Is it the reliability issues and if so haven't most of them been fixed with the enhanced firing pins, mags, and feed ramps? Are there other issues that have come up? Does anyone on here have experience with a build that runs flawlessly? If so, what parts manufacturers did you use? Which parts are are recommended and more importantly are there any that I should completely stay away from? Any help from those in the know would be great. Thanks in advance y'all.
***Rdkill, I started typing this in your thread this morning but thought it would be better to just start another.

If you do the enhanced pin and good magazines, you will have no problems. Mine runs flawlessly. Even if you do have feed issues with your mags, there is a youtube video for a fix. It involves filing the feed side top edge. I use ASC mags and didn't need to modify.

Thanks for the input. Did you have to file your ASC mags? Also, did you build yours? If so, what upper and lower did you go with?

Mine is a frankenstein build. Doublestar hbar barrel, no name upper, some gun show bcg, and a spikes lower I put together. Come to think of it, I may have added the heavier hammer spring also. People kept warning about hard primers on surplus 7.62, so between the spring and enhanced firing pin, you'll be golden.
