They don't manufacture anything yet attempt to sell themselves as an iconic American firearms company. XDs are made in Croatia1911s are made in BrazilM1s are made in Korea. And the company Springfield Armory has nothing to do with THE Springfield Armory.

Ok, That makes sense. While it would be great if they were made in the US, I still love them!

Funny thing is that most of the FN handguns are made in the US. Kind of like buying an "American" car. If you want one made in America, buy a Honda or a Kia - not a Chevy!

I could care less where a gun is made...all I care about is quality, fit, and function. The xds is the best in those categories I've came across thus far.

the grip and they have a less normal sense of balance to them, it not everyones cup of tea, i had 45 xd once and it just didn't feel it was good for me

I was guessing people were flipping them. One of those "not to common" guns that get better than retail sometimes. I held one before and though they were pretty nice myself but not really interested in a .45 pocket gun

This is true...I've got a Springfield armory sticker that came with a gun and says..."the first name in American firearms"

I dont know. I mean everyone knows of Glocks. Alot of people love them. I have 3 and love them but I see the xds for sale or trade all the time and its right after people claim they got them.......

I still think it is because of the recoil and the grip. Compared to a G36, it does not have as much of a grip, but is more concealable. If you are not prepared for the recoil, it does seem like a handful. It is also not the most comfortable grip - again it goes more for concealment than comfort.

Needless to say, it is not the gun for everybody. In fact, not for most people. But if you want 6 rounds of .45 in a package only slightly larger than a CM or PM Kahr, it's your huckleberry.

After owning several of the Springfield Xd, XDm, and XDs......I would say you should not necessarily compare any one of those line of guns to the rest as I have found them all to shoot and feel a lot different.

The XD feels good in my hand, but I can't shoot it worth a crap.
The XDm feels good and I can shoot it well and I have never had a malfunction since I bought it the year they came out. It always goes bang. When I have a 9mm load that will not fire in one of my Glock's I put it in the XDm and it always goes off.
The XDs is completely different being single stack and seems to shoot well and does its job well for the category it is in.


With that said, they all feel like totally different guns to me from one to another.

I owned an XD-40 service model. I got rid of mine cause I did not like the grip safety. There is a story behind it just to long to type. In the end went back to my glock 19

ditto, picked one up the other day and right back down again, for me it did not feel right
