Just to clarify for myself. If the guy had poped him four or five times then pulled a knife and tryed to stick him then he would be legal in using deadly force? But if he slashed him and then turned to run he would go to jail for use. Not being sarcastic just wanting to gain all the knowledge I can.

May not be legal, but if someone stabs me, I'm pretty sure I wont give a damn. And whether or not anyone admits it, in that situation you'll have so much adrenaline pumping that you would do one of two things: Freeze up and not do anything or put a bullet in his head. I can sit here and tell you that in that situation I would do the legal thing, but I'd probably be lying because in that situation all reasonable judgment goes out the window.

If you have to go on here to ask when it is legal to shoot,you shouldn`t be carrying.You need to know before you start carrying.IF YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU OR SOMEONE ELSE IS IN DANGER OF BEING KILLED OR IN DANGER OF SUFFERING SEVERE BODILY INJURY,YOU CAN USE DEADLY FORCE.You may have to convince the court of this in the end.That`s why LEOs train so much.You have to make the decision in a split second sometimes.
would you really pull the trigger just bc you didnt want to get up and be a man? come on now think theres how many people in there.. hit anyone else and you would be going to jail for a long time no matter where you are..
That's exactly right. He is no longer a threat. One of the "shoot, don't shoot" exercises I have seen was this.
You walk into a laundry mat and find a man on top of a woman with a knife to her throat. He sees you and pulls her up in front of him (no safe shot). As he throws the knife at you, she drops out of the way. SHOOT!?......Wrong! The knife had left his hand by the time you fired. You just shot an unarmed man. This was taught by an FBI instructor. Devil's in the details folks.
Okay, but my question to you is how do you know he is now unarmed? Who is to say that he doesnt have some other weapon? And if his intent is still to harm the woman then what does it matter?
