I was extremely interested in the 1911's coming out of surplus. Now, no interest at all.

Negative. $1,000 gets me a Kimber or Colt 1911 that hasn't even been broken in yet.
Nothing would be cooler than a real GI issue 1911, but at that price it's not that cool anymore.

Now if CMP offers nice (not reparkerized) War II 1911 correct for $1000 , probably a buyer. Lots of it depends.

Will be interesting to see what condition the rack grades will be. I've seen some decent Garand Rack Grades but I'd definitely hand select and not mail order.
