Would you rather have 5 shots or 16 shots?

Haven't seen anyone mention yet but if you fear for your safety, bring a friend or two. Two dudes with two guns is better than one guy with three guns in the car.

I have to agree with this. I'm sure there are folks here who would be willing to lend you a hand fixing the place up as well as watching your back. I'd volunteer to help, free of charge, if you were located somewhere reasonably close to me.

Retired home inspector from Dekalb County and seen this almost everyday. Folks that steal them watch for moving vans and then show up a day or so later and do there dirty deed. Also seen tenants take 2x4 and jab holes in walls and ceilings just for the pure joy. Park a old car in drive way and leave a light on when not there. As far as what you need to carry, the sound of a pump shotgun being cocked would scare hell out of me.......just sayin.
Good luck my friend.

But not with todays criminals, most of them are not only looking for a fight, they are prepared, and street hardened. THe only sound they'll hear, will be the last sound they hear.

I really appreciate that. I think you are sincere. There are many honest, moral, good people on this site who would help. This section of this county in this state is infested with thieves and drug addicts. As the Sheriff told me several years ago this has been a way of life for generations around here and will only end with gunfire. For over 30 years I have come home at the end of the day always expecting to find my front door kicked in. I am always armed.
The boy who rented the property from me started out really well. I helped him get a steady job and he had a young family started. All was well. Then he started retreating from his family and skipping out on his rent. He quit his job. I haven't been able to talk to him since the middle of Feb. so I finally had to evict him. I figure the "crack" pipe I found inside the dwelling was an indicator of what went wrong with him.
This site is great for posting up "what if" senarios and that is great for training. I'm living this every day and have been for years. My father-in-law was the most honest straight forward man I have ever known. This was his property. He went to his grave plauged by the local trash and scum who robbed and stole from him for three generations.
I will not be driven from this property by cowards who come in the night to steal. I WILL take my stand.

Had a tenant that actually took the knobs off the cabinets when I kicked him out. Found out he was also a meth user. Learned a lesson from that one.
I have not assumed anything and where did I say I was trying to confront him? I called the Sheriffs Dept as soon as I found it missing. They sent a deputy out who filled out a report and turned it over to the investigators. SOMEONE was on my property and committed the criminal act and if they come back I will not be caught defenseless. They may never catch who ever it was. Am I also just supposed to cower at home while they come back and rip the wires from the walls also?

Shame u are having to deal with this asshole. I know exactly the kind of people you are dealing with. I have a friend who turned out normal, but all her siblings are damn meth heads. Lots of them around.

Good luck-and dont take chances, never bluff.

Meth pretty much negates shot placement unless it is a direct cns shot, 12ga would be my choice with dealing with that situation, and a semi to get to the 12ga should the need arise

Long gun locked in the car, primary and back up on your person makes real good sense.

You can fight your way to the long gun for the advantage if it came down to it or if given an alert to prepare, then prepare well and go in with the long gun with the hand guns as backup.

Sorry to hear of your plight but you are doing the right thing and seem to be a reasonable man with a measure of preparedness. Good luck to you and hopefully nothing more will come to this but if not keep cool and think only of the front sight. 911 is there to clean up after the fact and the police were never meant to be the personal body guards of our citizenry. They are great back up and utilize their skills when or if required and avoid using yours if possible.
