Depends on which agency winds up holding them. If the state or feds get them they're all doomed . If the city or county agencies get them they can and might be auctioned. Right now on the T Lynn Davis auction site there are 3 different lots of handguns up for bids that came from the Oconee Drug Task Force.

This is a good news story, but they should not need it. I read somewhere that many times, gun charges are dropped as part of the plea bargain process. The bad guy pleads guilty to the robbery (or whatever charge), and is not charged with the gun charge. The DA gets a win in their column, the bad guy is off the street, but not for the "minimum" sentence when guns are involved. If they want to reduce violent criminal activity, they are going to have to start charging folks with gun crimes.
