I'm going to post this straight to the pasture where it belongs.
Not specific to this site at all, I have seen this tactic in vehicle for sale ads in a lot of places. It goes in some combination of these points:
1. Needs some work, but very solid
2. Repairs would be cheap and easy
3. Parts come with the vehicle maybe
4. If I do the repairs (sometimes basic maintenance) myself, I'm going to relist it for double the price
If the repairs are so cheap and easy, why don't you go ahead and do them yourself before listing if it's going to raise the vehicle's sale price significantly?
