Me too, but they always get them from rescue centers. They can't survive in the wild. Mike VII will also be a rescue.Yeah they are amazing, but I'd rather see them running free in the wild.
Still a cool mascot!
Cancer spread really fast and last week they said he had one or two weeks left but they wouldn't let him suffer. They euthanized him yesterday. That was sooner than I expected, I thought he had a few weeks left?

I also wish they'd get the poor boy a girlfriend.
I said that tongue in cheek. They are solitary animals in the wild. They only get together to... well.... you know. For the sake of this magnificent species he should have to have a lady friend!
Should be a rule!
Let's make a rule!
I can see taking in rehabilitated animals not able to survive in the wild for zoo's and cases like this!Me too, but they always get them from rescue centers. They can't survive in the wild. Mike VII will also be a rescue.

that's what they do. Most of the "Mike's" have also lived to about 20 years which is twice the average lifespan of wild tigers. This one lived 9 years which is about average, before the cancer was found.I can see taking in rehabilitated animals not able to survive in the wild for zoo's and cases like this!
