Did sig fix the p320 and is it still a good gun to have?

My first post was a light-hearted jab. I have called no names. I am debating this topic and even said I am not trying to be intentionally rude.

I am not afraid of running into anyone I have disagreed with in these forums. If they have an emotional reaction to words on a screen that is far more their problem than it is mine. And if it means they wish to have no dealings with me then they prove they are the type of person I'd rather not interact with either.
Fair enough, my post was not a threat in any way just to be clear, nor are my feelings hurt. I really don’t care. I was surprised by some of the responses though and maybe I took them the wrong way. I just figured we were better than that.

Maybe "being better" is being able to take a joke? :noidea:

My good man.... I can say for a certainty that many are not 😅

The reason for the response is most of us have been following these "sigcidents" for quite some time and based on the breadcrumbs we have come to the undeniable conclusion that there is some type of problem with the 320.

There are a lot of theories, some folks have produced some rather convincing videos of replicating what they believe to be the cause in ways that are not replicable with other striker fired handguns.

And truly, the biggest issue of all isn't just the apparent mechanical flaws. It's how SIG USA has responded to it. Quietly "fixing" the drop-safe issue in the beginning while also saying it wasn't possible. Refusing to look into their design seriously and blaming every user that was shot by their own 320. Until their sweet government contract was at stake then they at least appeared to have dug into it.

And saying that anyone who expressed concern over these handguns were anti-gunners. While simultaneously trying to get laws passed to effectually make them "unsueable" for more unintended discharges.

I understand not immediately condemning a platform because someone accidently shot themselves and blamed the gun. Happens all the time. But it keeps happening, repeatedly, to the 320. Where there is smoke, there's usually fire and these things have been smoking for a while.

^Pretty much sums it up.

Some doctrine including Israeli is don't carry with a round in the chamber a safe but slower solution.

I like the p365 and the 226 but no more SIG320 for me too many patch/updates/modification and too much bad press / liability

Early SIG 320's went off when dropped new and used. So do many other pistols but not as often publicized (the M9 and M16 among others got alot of bad press when first adopted.) SIG modified the design so this was very difficult to make happen. They also added 2 modifications and suggested several key training regimens that would likely reduce accidental discharges wear and reassembly issues. They then made more addendums - then more. They did not redefine tolerances - address the half cocked striker - flexing polymer frame or that is possible to sequentially overcome mechanical and manual safeties OK

There are 3 documented wear issues common around 5-7000 that rightfully concern military and competition shooters with the thumb safety striker retainer and pin block safety that cause failures OK

Any and all pistols with a round in the chamber can be made to go off. If safeties are overcome they are improperly reassembled or assembled with damaged parts - its clearly possible and been repeatable with a series of events in the 320 and most other guns . The 320 has a tremendous amount of use and testing these instances are actually low statistically but evidenced by testimony and video. Almost every pistol adopted by the US military contract selection process has undergone deserved and even more undeserved scrutiny OK

However there is significant evidence that the modified 320 will go off without the trigger being pulled or the gun being significantly impacted or vibrated or components being damaged. Not OK
Thanks I just purchased a M18 and i love it!
