I'm with you. Low quality optics shouldn't count towards overall value. Should just be a gimme.

100% of the time, the first thing I do is take scope off, torque, add good mounts and rings and go from there

Not when sailing or buying. I am not a big fan of used optics unless I know the sailor and just like firearms for sale on ODT optics can be had new for close to the same amount of money. If celling I will probably remove the scope and cell it seperate or keep it.

Never had nuttin expensiver than a Leupold. Deer dont seem to mind if its a Leupold or a Bushnell

I have bought a couple .22's with scopes, "yeah. it's sighted in ready to go"...Bull. Some even loose in the rings, so, yeah, keep your scope, I'll save some money and do it my way.
