F/N Five Seven: All hype or awesome gun?

I had one, I couldnt figure out what to use it for. It didnt really "fit" into my collection. Too big to carry, ammo is impossible to find, and very expensive when you do find it. The guns need to have a mag release update or you can jam the gun when reloading mags. Not hard to do, but be aware that its an issue. Light recoil makes it very accurrate.

I liked until I couldnt find ammo, even pre-panic ammo was hard to find, so I stopped shooting it.

Its not a carry cause its too big, its not a range toy because you cant find ammo, its not a home defense gun because the flash will blind you if its dark. IF you need the ballistics of a 5.7, get a rifle.

When the zombies show up and you need to have 20-40-60 rounds close by then maybe its got a purpose, but until then I dont get it. Oh and they are selling for between 2k and 4k on here. No thanks.

Nice summary. The size doesn't bother me but the lack of ammo is really bad for training.

I have always wanted one but i think right now I would rather have a 22 tcm. The one from ria comes with a drop in 9mm conversion so it is easy to keep it functioning if the tcm cartridge is too expensive or hard to find. That round is going to gain a lot in popularity there is now a bolt gun that takes it and a carbine is supposed to be the next project on the board.

Holsters are hard to come by but Kydex is a good solution. Ammo only comes from one main manufacturer but there is least one other custom loader that I'm aware of. The guns are expensive but totally worth what they cost in coolness and efficiency.

With that said I am in the process of saving up for a .22 TCM. 1911 platform with pretty nice ballistics. Same case right now though. Ammo is harder to get and it ain't cheap. The gun is much cheaper though.

Gun Test Magazine rated the PMR 30 higher. Although it seems to have a cult-like fan base with many serious gun enthusiasts. I'd have one if I had the disposable cash, but it wouldn't be near the top of my list.

I have one of those... Love it. Good luck finding one for msrp though. I got mine significantly higher than Msrp but well below what they are going for right now. In fact I am carrying it right now.

I think its pretty close to perfect for a bug-out gun since the ammo is relatively light so you can carry a lot. It is light and accurate, I believe its designed for support troops that need to have decent stopping power and accuracy without much practice or weight and for that this gun is perfect. But dang these guns are loud I'm talking louder than a .45 loud

Did i mention it is LOUD!
