IVE had both the pof and the m&p10. M&p10 cheaper and lighter. The POF P308 is heavy but flawless. Action is smooth, feature packed, and sub moa.

Add LANXANG TACTICAL to high side. Very accurate, runs like a sewing machine.
In that price range I'd go with the new Daniel Defense .308, with whichever rail or variant you prefer. DD builds a heck of a rifle and I think it can be had within your stated price range, last time I checked.

I have a PWS mk216. Not much info out there on it but it's a piston driven 308. Love mine. Do some reading on the PWS rifles, it's worth a look.

I've had a couple of different AR10 types and my recommendation is the M1a. Nothing really wrong with an AR10, but...
I've also got a worked over M1A and it is nicer than the LR308's I own in a lot of ways. However, the LR308's are set up for suppression and the M1A is not. Also, 22" M1A barrel is a long piece of iron in the woods to swing around.
I noticed there is no love for the SIG 716. Is that because of no experience with the rifle or bad experience with it?
