so i put about 120 rounds of .223 ammo through my Noveske (i love it so much!!!) and move the AFG a bit closer to the magwell...it's about halfway instead of near the end of the handguard now. but after shooting the rifle for about 20-30 minutes, it got pretty hot.

so i'm just wondering how hot do your ARs get when you go shooting?

If you are shooting in pretty close intervals for 30 minutes it's gonna get pretty hot. I've gotten mine smoking after dumping about 4 or 5 mags back to back.

I got one of my Ar-15s so hot we needed a glove just to hold the handguard. Of course that was 8 mags in a row with the slidefire. The AR-15 I have now stays rather cool. I have a cobray launcher connected to it and the handguard for it has many holes in it which aids in cooling.

Yep, they can get pretty warm! The MOE handguards I got perform a lot better than the stock ones as far as cooling goes. I really like their design on that- really channels the air upward to cool off the barrel.
