I dont know man. I know a bunch of good ol boys who would claim to be Republican that would pull something like that for bragging rights.

A couple guys on Lake Erie at an ice fishing tournament got caught doing the same thing and then were busted by the cops. If there's money involved expect it.

They catch them cheating in bass tournaments a good bit.these folks not use to losing been given participation medals all there life.
