Hunting with an SBR?

My 300 BLK hand loads are pretty flat shooting and hit hard up close.

Out of a 14.5" AAC barrel

19gr of Win 296
110gr Hornady SP (Have used Sierra HP's but they might fragment)

2275 fps chrono'd 1260 ft/lb at the muzzle

using Hornady ballistic calculator and a 25 yard zero it looks like this: 1.6" high at 100 yards to 1.9" low at 175 yards

The 85 grain TSX is the only 6.8 round I've hunted with and don't see any reason to change for Georgia deer. Never recovered a round but by the looks of the damage…speed kills.

I do all my hunting/hiking/stalking with SBRs

Here is a 350 lb trophy boar I popped with my 6933 @70 yards.

100 yard zero with the 1X aimpoint. Hornady 223 75gr BTHP Superperformance out of the factory 11" barrel. So a SBR will do it no problem. Bullet stabilization via grain to barrel length and twist is key. I initially ran 53gr, but found the heavier stuff to be a butt ton more accurate out of a 223 sbr. I then started hunting with a 8" 223, and found an even bigger difference in terms of accuracy comparing 53gr to 75gr. I now just stick with 75-77grain for all of my 223 sbrs.

I'm not too familiar with 300BO, but I would imagine that the light loads are still heavier than the 223 75gr. So IMO, if the measly 75gr 223 was enough to knock down a boar that weighs 2x my weight, I would just suggest to pick a gr that is most accurate out of the 300BO, per your barrel length & twist.
