I would say that if you enjoy plumbing, get licensed. That will open up some good opportunities with higher pay projection.

Do whatever you have to do to save the $750 for the class and take the test. Sounds like you're missing out on making the real money until you do.

It seems like it’s worth taking the class and test to me. Take a few months to save the $750 and knock it out.

Don't mean to sound harsh, but $30k per year is roughly $15/hr so if you're not even making that with a family to sustain, you need to apply yourself a bit more, especially if you know a trade and are good at it.
