worst argument ever

i dont have the patience nor would i ever want that job

those who take ANY job should act like a professional. the reason i and most people hold police to a higher standard is because their job can influence peoples lives a little more than the shaquandra working at the DMV

if the government is going to grant them arrest power, assign them weapons and body armor, then they should follow state lines to the letter

end of story, dont want to be scrutinized for acting like an impatient asshole, act like a professional or dont be a cop

Worst argument ever.

Police work is a highly visible profession and by the letter of the law requires a PERFECT human being to complete the task without ever showing emotion or making a mistake.

There is no such thing as a perfect human and therefore will never be a perfect officer. The actions of police will always be scrutinized regardless of the end result.

Many (lots and lots and lots) good men and women put on their uniform and attempt to do their best each day.

Regardless of your jaded opinion, most officers do a damn good job.

Not to be one to resort to violence.

However, the second and third tier effects to this situation could be very dangerous though. Don't pick a fight unless you want a fight....

heres another fun video

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=5cc_1372864552

he must feel like a big man

now while being old doesnt excuse bad behavior and she was probably being a royal pain, the cop clearly lacks professionalism and respect

what happened to the nice jovial police? did they get replaced by blackwater wannabes all over the country er something?

They decided they were soldiers and that the Bill of Rights is dead? :noidea:

This thread has been a real eye opener for me. I never realized how much animosity there was towards police and vice versa. I am as law abiding as I know how to be, and I come away from this thread believing, statistically, I am probably much more likely to be harassed by police than I am being victimized by a criminal. :grey:

Pressure points and torsion, you can get anyone to flinch and BAM... "I grabbed the subjects hand and arm to escort them out of the room. The subject jerked their arm away as if to strike the officer."
You torque someones thumb back and they will jerk away, its a reaction. No marks to tell on you.

I won't tell you how I know, just trust me, I have heard this more than once.

Yell out "bomb" on an airplane and see where that gets you. You should probably study constitutional law before you go typing on a keyboard next time.

Dude, you need to qualify your statements before you make them.

Now, granted, it's no the smartest thing in the world to yell "bomb" on a plane, because there are gonna be consequences for doing something like that, but there is no law that says you can't do it. Your statement gives the impression that one doesn't have the freedom to say anything, including stupid stuff, which is, factually incorrect.

Go yell "fire" in a move theater or The N-word at a NAACP rally and see how that works out for you.

Does no one find it odd that a guy with a lawsuit against the department is there video taping something that has nothing to do with him? I'm sure he has been a 100% law abiding an stand up citizen right? And everyone in this thread knows everything that went on prior to this video being shot, right?

It is OBVIOUS he wasn't being arrested for video taping the police so maybe, just maybe y'all should consider that the guy arrested deserved it.

It's sad the dog was killed. But I never leave the windows down far enough the my dogs can get out, I also wouldn't har brought a dog with that type reputation to a situation I had no business in that has the potential to backfire on me.

So you don't don't believe the Constitution guarantees free speech either. regardless of how stupid that speech may be? If what you say is true, then why the hell hasn't the Westboro Baptist church been silenced?

That would be a ridiculous conclusion IMO. Use your own personal experience to judge these things, not one of hundreds of threads of this ilk mainly by the same folks over and over again. Bad cops are disgraceful but this stuff is amplified in a forum like this far, far from reality.

I condemned these guys earlier because I thought they should have had the self control not to push this...and then I deleted my comments due to this turning into a bash-a-thon...

It's what the LEO's have said here, or more importantly, not said, that I find disturbing. There is definitely a "us against them" culture and "code of silence" among police. I think most people, myself included, are leery of cops because they have a habit of being condescending and feeding off their own power. Case in point, a few posts up.

But I agree, this thread has taken a bad turn. Thanks for listening.

Cops rarely harass innocent people. Maybe you should stop doing whatever it is you're doing that gets their attention.

Another incorrect statement.

How about road blocks? I know, I know, they are "safety checks," just trying to keep the public safe from all the drunk drivers and those driving without insurance, but why should one be detained( yes when a cop pulls you over, you are technically under arrest,) without probable cause? So I'm driving on the road, and done nothing wrong, why should I be impeded from going about my way? Harassment in my opinion.

Dogs are extensions of their owners. Worthless owners dogs aren't worth worrying about. Haven't you seen dogs growl at members of particular races? Heard the owners brag about it? Dog like that can do serious damage. I used to know a women whose face had been messed up as a child by a pet doberman.

I come away from this thread believing, statistically, I am probably much more likely to be harassed by police than I am being victimized by a criminal. :grey:
I can guarantee you that is the case given most people never have a direct bad guy confrontation over a lifetime. it's happened to me personally a few times.

cops have a tough thankless job (that they volunteer to do) and i have met many that were the real deal, but there are a many duds in the role as well. i will be respectful yet as technical and direct as is necessary in any PD interaction. they are trained to build cases, not to be your buddy.
