Also I'll probably never buy a 556 under 16". That's just stupid, stupider than a 16" 308.

I hear you. For me, having to wear ear pro during a day of shooting with a mini can would sort of defeat the purpose.
That's musket length!I run a specwar 762 on a mosin 91/30 so when I go long , I go real long.
Not nearly as stupid as suppressing a Mosin. I don't get you man!Also I'll probably never buy a 556 under 16". That's just stupid, stupider than a 16" 308.

So how does a .556 can work on a .22 lr ? Can you still use the iron sights? If yes, I would think it worthwhile. Considering a can myself for .22
My FCP-K has a 24" barrel and my can for it is 9 inches. That mofo is looooooooong.I run a specwar 762 on a mosin 91/30 so when I go long , I go real long.
I do not wear hearing protection while shooting it and don't notice any discomfort or ringing. That said, I rarely shoot it more than 100 rounds or so on an outing. If I am at a range more than likely I am shooting a bolt gun. I see the usefulness of semiautomatic rifles, and I own several, but I don't get much out of blazing away all day with one.Is that quiet enough to shoot comfortably without hearing protection?
