Need a Toyota FJ40 guru

I use ACC for everything on my Cruisers, and they're honestly not that expensive. They have always been very fair and flexible with me.

Any maybe I'm a little jaded since I do 99% of my work. I'm not suggesting that they're unreasonable. They have a specialty and there is a slight premium for it.

To OP- steer clear of Urban Land Cruisers. There is some not so flattering info available on their current work ethic- just a google away.

There is a relatively new place out of FLA called Land Cruiser heaven. They're importing some interesting stuff from South America (FJ40's were made there until the 90's.

I suggest you not get a FJ but a 70 series.. The FJ is basically a cooler Jeep, and increasingly a hipster mobile. 70 series landcruisers are legitimate overland vehicles. Also do not buy ANY vehicle that has been in South America.

Why nothing from south America? I've been considering a 70 series in the next few years. Too much use compared to ROW?

What about the availability of 40 series parts vs 70 series parts? Seems like the FJ40's parts are everywhere!

This FJ has been in my family since new, being that my dads first cousin bought it new in 72, and we traded a 1970 Monte Carlo ( big block) for it in 1974. So it will go back original and not made a mud buggy or have a V8 swap and so on.

Stear clear of Urban LandCruisers. I used them years back to rebuild a transmission on a FJ62 I had. Cost me $3500 and it never was right. Couldn't get in touch with them once they had the money.

Good on you. They are worth more and way nicer factory than they are with big V8's and all jacked up. I have a buddy who has one that is very clean and in stock form. I'd love to pick up another cruiser, just not sure which model yet.
