Most .177, .22, .25 air rifles seem to shine in the 850 fps range. Some of the big bore stuff does a little better +1000 fps.

But I agree with SirBannedAlot , those advertised stats are often inflated due to testing with light ammo that you’d never use in the real world.

If I am not mistaken, nitrogen molecules are like 2.5 x larger and more stable than oxygen molecules so that could lead to more stability and less issues over time with seals going bad and better performance under compression.
