we had a guy open carry at the place I work part time a woman saw him and freaked, she hid in the bathroom and called 911 and the cops showed.. It all got worked out in the end..
 
Well you tell me? Put yourself into a bad guy's mentality. You've made up your mind to commit a violent crime using a firearm. You enter your chosen target location and see some guy standing there with a gun on. Wouldn't you shoot him first? I would. Now I'm not saying that OC is a bad thing at all. It can be a deterrent in some situations but you've got to be 100% awake and aware of your surroundings or you become a target.

All of that assumes that criminals aren't freakin cowards who will see a gun and head the other way.

Why do you think that mass shootings happen in "gun free zones"?

If the "you will be shot first" theory were correct, why aren't more gun stores straight out robbed instead of smash & grabs?

Most criminals have about as much situational awareness as the common sheeple. They get tunnel vision too. Lots of stories about people that were open carrying that provided armed response to violent crimes. Haven't read one yet where one was targeted because they were carrying (other than cops).
