I always loosen, oil and retorque mine after a shop works on them.
I have found cross threaded ones before where I had to replace the stud. That really pissed me off. After that I always check them in the parking lot before leaving the tire store.
I torque by feel, when your have done it for years you can feel where there is a spike in resistance, I go slightly past that. Never had a problem, if it were a commercial sized vehicle I would use a torque wrench

I can believe you can't take the old ones to ford and they give you a set of the ones in that link..
