Question for LEOs

I've never read a "jay walking" statute.

Depends and the totality of the incident it might have been endangerment... More than likely it is real stupid, unfortunately that's not illegal.

You're right. I just read the GA code for pedestrians and it does not expressly forbid crossing outside of a crosswalk, but it does instruct pedestrians to yield to oncoming traffic (no crap really?).

It would ruin my day to turn children into a grease spot because their mother is too lazy to walk to the light. I don't care much about the adult; she is old enough to take her own life into her hands.

I Don't know of any state law violated. Possibly a city or county odinance?
Are you sure there was a law violated?

This is about as close as it comes:

O.C.G.A. said:
§ 40-6-92. Crossing roadway elsewhere than at crosswalk

(c) Between adjacent intersections at which traffic-control signals are in operation, pedestrians shall not cross at any place except in a marked crosswalk.

Usually only happens in cities where short distances between intersections and they have to have traffic lights and marked crosswalks.

Past this, "jaywalking" would have to be a local ordinance.
