RDS vs Irons

When I purchased my old 1911 years ago, it had lost its front sight. Ran it that way for years 'til I had a little tune-up work done on it. No one ever seemed to notice.
That's impossible because front sights can never break or fall off or have failure of any kind. I heard it right here in this thread!

Ill never understand people that are "educated" taking the position of RDS on handguns is useless. Hopefully you also only run irons on all your rifles as well.

I have guns with only irons but only because I didn’t want to mill them. I like shooting them but I don’t “train” with them. RDS give me an advantage and I need as many advantages as I can get.

I don’t think one single person said they were useless. Many, myself included said we’d did not find their use worth the potential problems on our carry gun.

Y’all sound like a bunch of drama queens.

I kinda regret even posing the question in the first place lol. All I was asking was if people who have experience with an RDS find that after a period of time that irons are more enjoyable to shoot.

It definitely went Charlie Foxtrot.....

I agree with you. I’m a bit faster (still slow) with a red dot but have more fun and, strangely, just feel more confident shooting irons. I have pistols with both but my “primary” defensive handgun has an RDS with co-witnessed irons.

I think with practice, anyone will be faster with the red dot but at pistol ranges, irons are still solid.
