If youre not responsible enough with a gun to carry with a round in the chamber, you might not be responsible enough to carry a gun.

Sign of inexperience. Might want to carry a revolver for a few years first.
Jeff Cooper was right. To carry an unprepared gun is irresponsible. I was under the impression the JDF learned better and stopped that nonsense.

Practice with the system of your choice. Murphy's law applies, if you have a safety, practice with it even if you don't use it. If you are afraid of a particular system (on a quality gun in good condition) you haven't drilled enough.

I've carried for 5 years now (just had to get my new permit this month). I like to consider myself "aware" when it comes to gun safety and have full intent of taking classes at protective measures once it warms up a bit.

Thats why this old man sold my S&W M&P 45 with out a safety and got one with a thumb safety no more gun with out safety i have seen that happen to many times.

heh, heh...oopsie.

I wont carry one in the chamber for this reason. I may end up getting a 357 with a heavier double action trigger and feel a little bit better about it though!
