I will say that if you are not comfortable carrying with one in the chamber, then you are absolutely doing the right thing. I would suggest training and carrying a gun that is safe with a round in the chamber when you are comfortable, as those milliseconds are critical.

Just please don't posit that carrying with a round in the chamber is unsafe! If you are carrying the right gun and you train properly and use your head, it is no more dangerous than carrying a *****cat on your waist.
