Shot placement in a self defense situation.

cant go wrong with 2 to the chest, 1 to the head. repeat if threat is still a threat.

This for sure, but i wonder how clear my thoughts would be in the situation.....

Once a high level of proficiency is achieved with ones pistol, these types of scenarios, if done properly, provide shooters with the skills necessary to win fights.... both on the street & possibly in the courtroom.

Only shooting at paper or metal targets is too one dimensional.

Contending with thinking, moving, unpredictable opponents is a whole 'nother world which is what happens in the real word of life or death encounters.

Force on force is the best training a reasonably experienced shooter can have (after the basics). The reality of as close to RW scenario training screams your short-comings at you. And then there is always "Murphy" hiding and waiting for the most skilled and trained shooter. It can be a real eye opener.

Sometimes things go bad fast and up close. Any hit is a good hit. Any miss is potential collateral damage.

Not all bad guys are going to stand up straight in front of you. I'm aiming for whatever body part is easily visible at the moment, chest, head, legs, ass, I don't care. If its a clean case of self defense it really shouldn't matter.

If you shot him in the "ass", Would that be self defense?

Stopping Power

As documented in the article an attacker may not stop advancing even when taking hits in center mass/ vital organs. The cop had to shoot him in the head to end the gun fight. This got me thinking. In a civilian self defense situation, if you shoot the attacker in the head, would LEO, judge or DA or whatever see it as malicious intent and not self defense?

Did you really ask this question? If you are at the point that you are shooting someone to save your/someone's life you are not going to stop in the middle of the event and ask yourself "will I get in trouble for shooting him in the head"? You shoot to stop the threat, end of story. If one or more shots is to the head then so be it, you are now alive and you can answer the questions later. And I thought I was the blonde.
