been looking at the classifieds here, craigslist, ebay and a few other places and all I can say is dream on..

Does anyone ever check KBB, Edmunds or NADA for pricing? most are not even in the ball park.. It's not hard to go online and check for avg price, retail or even wholesale..

Just so you know bigger wheels, tires, lift and other aftermarket add on's don't add value most of the timeas far as a lender is concerned [there are exceptions] and just because a car or truck is your baby does not make it worth more..

And please if it's a truck or jeep don't post pics of you beating it on a trail or blasting a mud hole,if it's car I don't want pics of you doing burn outs..... on second thought that might be a good now I know how you really treat your stuff.. 300K HWY miles only means a rebuild is not too far off for most vehicles unless it's a well maintained diesel. I am all for capitalism and know about supply and demand and some vehicles are more highly sought after then others, but sorry your 95 z71 with 275000 miles is not worth $7k unless there is 3oz of gold hid under the seat..lol

I also understand owners pricing..to a point good used cars can be hard to find and new car prices are stupid high..

:)this post is directed at no one in particular just a few observations based off off my 40 years of buying cars..

was this a rant? sort of... but when you have kids and are trying to find good cars it can be maddening.

you guys have a great Sunday and sorry worked till 2am last night....a little punchy...lol

ya, some people are freakin whackos with thier pricing lol.

ive been trying to come up with a good value for my truck if i ever decide to trade it for something else (toying with the idea of wanting a SUV/wrangler again). but have seen values (from ebay, autotrader, craigslist, and alike) that range from 10k-20k lol!!!! all sittin stock, just mileage differances lol. Current KBB price for my truck in good condition is 12.5k. did see one that all it had was a 6 inch lift on 37s, over 100k odometer, and the dude wanted 25k lol.

Bud, as long as tax season is close, prices jump up to obsurd pricing. I buy and sell cars all the time. Best time to buy in my opinion in late in the year (Nov Dec). Seems to always have the best deals in those months.

But I also agree, people are WAY to proud of the box style Z71's.....

Could not of said it better myself.

KBB is a guide. NADA is what dealers use. Prices vary based on region but, condition, appeal, and popularity also have a lot to do with price. I don't mind paying a little more when the car was maintained well. The most important thing I've learned over the years is don't be emotional about the purchase. Do your homework and be ready when a good deal comes along.

Bingo!! When I use to sell cars, people always would say "well KBB says my car is worth XXXXX". I would have to tell them that KBB won't buy your car. It's worth whatever we can buy it from auction for..... Most people can figure out what something is really worth. If you see what you think is a $3500 car listed for $5000 and it listed over and over, you can reasonably suspect that it's probably priced too high or something is wrong with it. Like those $7,000 95 Z71's with 200K miles. They will sit until either the seller gets tired of seeing $3500 offers, or realizes he can't sell it for the retarded price he listed it for and dump it for a reasonable deal.

I have stopped even browsing on CL for cars to flip just for that reason. So tired of seeing junk with 150k+ miles in "excellent Condition" or "Like New"..... People are a bit over optimistic when it comes to valuing their turd they paid way too much for in the first place.

Ill never pay a dollar over kbb

you have to price it 150% over KBB so that when you get the stream of lowball offers, you are actually back in the realistic ballpark.

Mine Books at 3
I Offered it at 2500
got a stream of PMs for 1200-1800

I should have put it up at 3800 that way when the lowballers came in we'd be around the realistic 2500
