After the last AWB, what happened to individuals AR-15's and AK's? Were people still allowed to own the ones they had and the existing ones became non-transferable?

nothing, the sale of guns with certain accessories attached became illegal or banned (ie bayonet lugs and stuff that doesnt actually do anything functionally)

also hi capacity mags werent created or sold in some places (you could still get them just fine though)

so the AWB did absolutely nothing to stop crime and only caused headaches for a few people

So basically "assault weapons" were legal to own, use, and sell. The only difference was nobody was selling newly manufactured ones?

Not even that. Just ceartin aspects of the weapons were not allowed like a bayonet lug or collaspable stock. Look at the current laws for California....It was that way everywhere during the Clinton years. You could still buy an AR15 but only with a fixed stock, no bayo lug and it came with a 10 round mag but would still accept a 30 rounder.
