What scales (balance) are y’all using?

Just listened to a good podcast from Hornady (which is also on YouTube). It convinced me to rethink how I evaluate loads. It’s called ”Your Groups Are Too Small.” In summary, anything measured (group size, SD, ES) needs to have a big enough sample size to avoid inconsistent results. A 10-shot group is the bare minimum. 20 shots are better. Anything over 30 begins to yield diminishing returns. Anything less than 10 runs carries the risk of giving bad data. It’s worth an hour of your time.

Using fire formed and weighed Hornady 6.5 creed brass and 38.00 grains of H4350, 140g match bullets set to 2.820, I achieved 8.3 SD on a 4 shot group. I think it would have been closer if I had warmed up the rifle first.View attachment 5688004

Right in the middle. Haven’t done much development for this cartridge yet.

I use an old digital dope scale I found in a car we scrapped years ago😆 Oh and always remember
" The baggie weighs a gram, man."

That's really slow. You should be minimum 2750. Can probably get to over 2800, but do your workup. Those are load book numbers. Very neutered. Factory Hornady 140 eldm ammo tends to run over 2700, if not 2750.

You aren't getting any of the benefits or anywhere near the BC of that round as slow as those are running.

Most people run around 42.5 grains of 4350 with those pills.
