When things go bump in the night

Reminds me of my dear sweet elderly mother. One night while at my brothers home, my brother and his wife were out and his kids were sleeping. She heard “someone in the house” and called the police. She was sure she heard a noise from inside the house. After the police cleared the house, the next morning she heard the noise again. It was the ice maker dropping ice.

This is the reason why I love dogs in the house. They instantly know the difference from a noise that belongs and a noise that doesn’t. Of course, most intruders they have found have been raccons or opossums on the deck.
