Where did you take Basic training or Boot Camp?

NRTC Orlando. April 83. Fun in the sun. Had an E-6 machinist mate for company commander. He liked to see us do pushups and get our asses cycled. Was working KP duty week 5 and they let us go on the roof and watch the space shuttle take off.
1957 Basic Training Book Ft Jackson A-6-2
Fort Benning , C-7-1 1982
Ft Leonard Wood, MO for Basic 10/69. AIT at Ft. Sill, OK. Then Ft. Benning, GA till I got out. Pulled KP twice before Modern Volunteer Army ushered in contract kitchen help. Wish I stayed in. Proud of my son and his wife who are both career Army. As a Major she temporarily outranks him but he should catch up in a few months. Talk about having something in common with your wife, they have interesting home conversations every day.
Camp Gordon, Fort Gordon now, July-August 1954, then to Aberdeen Proving Grounds, then to Germany 57th Ordnance Group, out in 56 and then active reserves with H/H BTRY 81st Inf Div Arty in Atlanta thru 60 while going to Tech.

I think it was only nine weeks, needed bodies for korea still -
We toted 1903 Springfields, no sense wasting M-1s on a bunch of sailors --
After boot and ntc Norman ok, then ntc Millington tn, off to a couple years at Hickam AFB oahu fixin' and riding about in R7V super connies finally to VF 191 with FJ-3s on the Yorktown and moffet field -- I'm out !!
As you can see by the avatar I was E-5 in a then E-7 Navy
Before going in Navy spent a year at GW univ in AF ROTC, I had the pleasure of Marching from the capitol to the white house passing in review for Ike's inaugural --
Probably not too many left that did that -----

I was there in 66,Golf company 65. That was the coldest place i had ever been. Came from Florida with no jacket,didn't even own one. Went to Rockland Maine from there.
