Interesting word antiquated. Gives the impression that old means ineffective. Every electric motor you have ever seen regardless of how advanced is based on tesla's design. Internal combustion similarly so. There have definitely been advances in ballistic science both in ammo and hardware but old designs are not by virtue of age alone less effective than new. New designs however should always be looked at with a healthy dose of skepticism.

I agree, old doesn't mean bad. Besides, the 1911 has changed some, thats why I mentioned "modern" 1911.

Would you guys honestly go into battle with a 1911 (even your $3000 ones) or a Glock... hmmmm? Has anyone here actually taken a 1911 into true battle conditions? How did it go? ... just curious.

Didnt the marines just standardize on 1911's?
