I’ve always just enjoyed experiencing new stuff since I could never afford to own it all. Breaking even or losing some is just part of the hobby of collecting.

I mostly just buy what I'm interested in. Seldom sell. Don't really keep a balance sheet on my guns, but sometimes have a recall on the amount.
Even if I sold an AK I bought at $750 say 10 years ago for $850, I'd still be losing money due to inflation.
