I don't have the stockpile as some of those pics do but I have enough stuff to last a straight month or more for my family. We'd be eating some crazy stuff towards the end but we'd be eating.

My fie threw out some dry beans that we were concerned had been chemically contaminated (in plastic bags, with pesticide). I was a little surprised that the beans sprouted so easily. I've gardened, but I figured that beans in a bag were irradiated or something and wouldn't sprout. I guess I'll be gardening again this year.

I prep because sometimes governments can go horribly wrong and disasters could happen in many different forms.
Beans are tough. I had a bunch left over from a bag of soup mix that I decided to sprout, mostly to see if they would germinate, and probably 75% of them did, even some that were split in half!
BTW- if you can get the square 5 gal buckets, they pack and stack better than round ones unless you are going to put No.2 soup cans between them (which is harder to move around).
