Why would anybody buy a 38 special

In a model 60, I would rather have the 357.
If it is a model that was made in both I would have the 357.
That said, I carry the 38.

I wonder if the op is asking why would you buy a 38 only over a 357 that also will shoot 38. I just realized all of my revolvers are 357. I have never shot more than a box or two of 357 through all of them. I have shot thousands of 38 through each. I would be perfectly happy if each was only chambered in 38. I guess the versatility may attract some but to me its simply just what it is. I believe in my abilities with 38 special and it suits my needs.

Kinda like how....

I'm about the same way, I have a 38 that my grandfather left me and it will never leave. All the revolvers I have have ever bought with my money have all been .357's though. 90% of my plinking is with 38 special but it's nice to have the option to switch back and forth. Mine are also used for hunting purposes and a 38 just doesn't have the get up and go to take down any large animal.
